Job description
The University of South Wales is seeking to appoint an experienced Curator and Academic in the field of Visual Art to maintain, develop and promote the Museum Status University Art Collection and the Oriel y Bont Gallery Exhibition Programme in support of the University mission.

The role holder will be expected to provide operational management of the University of South Wales Oriel Y Bont Gallery and maintenance of the University’s Museum Status Art Collection, including liaison with Welsh Government Organisations.
Applicants for the post should be able to demonstrate a proven track record in curating, installing and promoting exhibitions that successfully engage diverse public audiences, in addition to excellent knowledge of the contemporary art world and ability to encourage collaborative, scholarly activity and research in relation to the visual arts and across the spectrum of academic disciplines within the university.
Key responsibilities
1. Administration of the University of South Wales Oriel Y Bont Gallery and maintenance of the University’s Museum Status Art Collection, including liaison with Welsh Government Organisations.
2. Demonstrate innovative approaches to exhibition programming and develop internal and external participation with the gallery and university art collection.
3. Engage with students, teaching staff, artists and curatorial partners as appropriate
4. Support students learning by providing high quality stimulating environment and
professional placement opportunities to enhance students employability
5. Communicate and promote gallery exhibition programme and USW Art Collection, building audiences and connecting with communities of interest.
6. ToencouragescholarlyactivityandresearchinrelationtotheOrielyBontexhibition
programme and USW Art Collection.
7. Work with a range of external partners and professional bodies/agencies nationally and internationally
8. Work effectively as part of the USW Artworks Museum Committee and where
appropriate supervising and/or mentoring other members of staff and students.
9. To undertake the responsibilities relevant to the role and commensurate with the
grade of the post.
