The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung is offering its renowned fellowship program, “Museum Curators for Photography,” aimed at graduates of German universities, preferably with a focus on art or cultural studies. This program provides participants with an opportunity to bridge the gap between academic training and professional entry in the field of photography.
Program Structure:
- Fellows will work for six months at three leading photography collections in Germany and Switzerland: Museum Folkwang in Essen, Munich City Museum’s Photography Collection, and Fotomuseum Winterthur.
- A final six-month stay at one of three international partner institutions: Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles), Centre Pompidou (Paris), or Victoria and Albert Museum (London).
- Fellows will also independently organize a symposium or workshop on specialized topics in photography.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold an academic degree (M.A. or PhD) in art or cultural studies.
- Applicants should be under 35 years old.
- Non-German citizens must have lived in Germany for at least three years and have completed their degree at a German university.
- Proficiency in English and French (level B2 or higher) is required.
