This program is a challenging ten-month journey for highly motivated recent graduates. It starts with a six-week intensive training, providing essential skills for Guided Gallery Visits. Fellows then gain hands-on experience in designing and teaching diverse educational programs. A key component is completing a Teaching Research Project, combining theory and practice.
Ideal Candidates
Candidates should be passionate about art, education, and museums. They must be committed to engaging diverse audiences, teaching with art objects, and aligning with the Brooklyn Museum’s mission. Prior experience in teaching or program development is essential.
Fellowship Details
- Salary: $27/hour, totaling $39,690 over ten months, plus benefits
- Duration: September 3, 2024 – June 20, 2025
- Work Hours: Initially Monday-Friday, 10 am-6 pm; changes to 9:30 am-5:30 pm post-training
- Eligibility: Recent graduates or individuals with equivalent experience in arts, humanities, or related fields. Candidates from diverse academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Fellowship Requirements
- Participate in a six-week training program
- Design and teach up to six 75-minute Guided Gallery Visits weekly
- Conduct original qualitative research and complete a research project by June 2025
- Develop a professional teaching portfolio
