Louvre Abu Dhabi is a new cultural beacon, bringing different cultures together to shine fresh light on the shared stories of humanity. In March 2007, the government of United Arab Emirates and France formed an unprecedented partnership for cultural exchange, and the highlight of this was the establishment of Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. The partnership combines the UAE’s bold vision of cultural progression and openness, with France’s expertise in the world of art and museums.

Louvre Abu Dhabi champions cultural achievements from prehistory to the present day. The galleries are not separated by geography but set in chronological order, the aim is to encourage respect, curiosity, learning and self-reflection.

Opportunity:

Louvre Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint a “Museum Educator” to join our External Affairs, Outreach and Cultural Engagement team. This role is responsible for delivering tours, activities, and creative encounters, both in English and language assigned to a variety of audiences for Louvre Abu Dhabi. The role holder must deliver engaging narrative aligned to the Museums vision, mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop written content to be delivered across a variety of audience segments and co-create content for the training of external tour guides, in addition to Louvre Abu Dhabi in house guides.
  • Working closely with the education, learning resources, and outreach teams to input into the development of educational resources and activities.
  • Ensure implementing the best practice in museum in relation to content knowledge, museum Educational/pedagogical knowledge and museum contextual knowledge.
  • Provide evaluation of any applicable external or in house tour guide, ensuring the quality of delivery is aligned.
  • Support the team in content and museum collection knowledge, researching and understanding collections and exhibitions.
  • Contribute to departmental projects as and when needed to help create engaging activities that ensure a positive visitor experience.
  • Other duties and administrative tasks as applicable to the role.

Required Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Archaeology, Museum studies, Creative Learning. or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in running audience development programs in a museum/ cultural setting or experience as an art teacher or Art Dealer.
  • Ability to engage with diverse audiences and lead large groups and crowd control.
  • Ability to complete administrative tasks and expert in Microsoft Office “Excel & Word”.
  • Fluency in Arabic, English and one other language.
