The picture gallery owns one of the world’s most important collections of European paintings from the 13th to the 18th century. The collection has been presented at the Kulturforum museum site since 1998. In a cooperation project with the Museum of Western and Eastern Art in Odessa, the Picture Gallery and the Old National Gallery at the Kulturforum are planning an exhibition of 74 European paintings from the 15th to 19th centuries from the Odessa Museum’s collection. The profile and origin of the Odessa collection rescued from the war zone should be highlighted.
Your tasks
– curatorial supervision of the cooperation and exhibition project “Works of European painting from the 15th to 19th centuries from Odessa”
– documenting, developing and researching the collection stock loaned to the SMB by the cooperation partner
– designing, curatorial implementation and supervision of the exhibition on the Odessa, including the coordination of measures to prepare for the exhibition
– assisting in the coordination and monitoring of contractual agreements, including submitting procurement applications and preparing procurement procedures
– designing, writing and editing the catalog accompanying the exhibition
Your profile
– Completed scientific university degree (Master, Magister/Magistra, Diplom univ. or equivalent degree) in art history (main subject) and completed doctorate with a focus on European painting of the 15th to 20th centuries – Scientific traineeship
or at least two years of practical museum experience in the described Responsibilities
– Experience in the conception, organization and mediation of exhibitions as well as in the creation and editing of scientific publications
– Good knowledge of the collections of the National Museums in Berlin, in particular the Picture Gallery and Old National Gallery
– Very good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written
Desirable
– knowledge and experience with the museum documentation system MuseumPlus or RIA or comparable documentation systems
– strong communication, organizational and team skills
