Explore Climate Change and Social Justice
Are you eager to dive into the critical nexus of climate change and social justice through artistic research? Welcome to the Nordic Futures Residency, where we’re seeking three passionate artists and/or researchers to delve into pressing climate crisis issues from an interconnected social justice perspective.
Our Mission
We welcome diverse individuals deeply committed to both social justice and climate change concerns. Our residency focuses on examining how factors like race, gender identity, class, and geographical location intersect with power structures, perpetuating privilege and discrimination within a Nordic context. Our aim is to promote fresh approaches to knowledge production and methodologies that spotlight the importance of social justice and intersectional environmentalism. Join us and be a vital part of this collective effort toward a more sustainable future!
We’re Seeking Proposals That:
- Imagine social, cultural, economic, and technological futures at the climate change, race, class, and gender identity intersection.
- Connect societal well-being with environmental and planetary health.
- Collaborate and engage in collective world-building to develop new methods for emphasizing intersectional environmentalism.
What We Offer
At Konsthall C, we provide each residency holder with:
- Stipend: 30,000 SEK
- Per diem, local travel, international flights, and accommodation.
Our Support Network
We offer our extensive contacts within the activist environmental scene of Sweden, the academic field, and our local artist network in Hökarängen to support participating artists’ research. We expect the residency holder to facilitate collective discussions as the culmination of their time with us, potentially through a workshop or group activity that brings together underrepresented voices in climate change conversations.
Residency Details
You will spend four weeks in Stockholm and return for a joint symposium with three other artists/researchers in April 2024.
- Residency: 4 weeks
- Work at home: 4 weeks
- Joint symposium/festival/workshop weekend: 4 days
Eligibility
The residency is open to artists and artistic researchers based in the Nordic countries (excluding Sweden) and the Baltic region. We encourage both emerging and established artists to apply. If you have migration experience, a minority background, or represent marginalized perspectives in climate discussions, we highly value your real-life experiences as a knowledge source.
