The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is seeking Los Angeles-based cultural workers, creatives, artists, artisans, curators, performers, choreographers, musicians, filmmakers, and other cultural practitioners to develop, manage, and realize cultural programs that uplift the Westlake/MacArthur Park neighborhood.
In 2026, the Goethe-Institut will also mark “50 years of Punk” through programs celebrating its influence as a music genre, fashion trend, DIY ethic, and attitude. One of three project stipends will focus specifically on this theme. Selected projects will be presented at the Goethe-Institut Project Space as part of the Neighborhood Interpretive Center 2026.
Opportunity Details
- Up to 10-week program in 2026 at the Goethe-Institut Project Space.
- Mentoring from jury members upon request.
- Public programming development support and opening reception.
- Press and PR support.
- $2,000 honorarium for curatorial research/work.
- $4,000 production budget for installation, production, and de-installation.
Eligibility & Guidelines
- Projects should be innovative, challenging, engaging, and relevant to Westlake/MacArthur Park.
- Extra consideration for applicants who live/work locally and/or focus on the neighborhood’s history and heritage.
- Preference for under-recognized artists (no gallery representation or recent major solo exhibitions).
- Flexible proposals with room for growth preferred; projects already shown elsewhere are less favorable.
- Proposals contributing to diversity are strongly encouraged.
