Urbane Künste Ruhr is seeking an Outreach Curator to systematically and strategically guide the program with respect to diversity issues and establish its presence in the region and its cities. The primary responsibility involves conceptualizing initiatives to increase the institution’s reach and accessibility, as well as further developing the educational program for both physical and digital spaces in close collaboration with the artistic director. A significant part of this role is the outlined “Grand Tour” project, dedicated to engaging with regional stakeholders in the Ruhr area, where the Outreach Curator will play a crucial role in planning:
The “Grand Tour” project aims to visit all 53 cities in the Ruhr area from 2024 to 2027, using a mobile structure developed in collaboration with artists to regularly engage in public spaces within these cities, hosting artistic programs in partnership with local artists and initiatives. This project stems from a subjective analysis of the regional city centers and the local conditions, aiming to forge new networks through its open and performative format.
Responsibilities:
- Develop an outreach concept for audience-oriented communication and dissemination of Urbane Künste Ruhr’s program, to be implemented in collaboration with the team.
- Dramaturgical and curatorial programming of the “Grand Tour” project in close exchange with the Artistic Director.
Qualifications:
- Extensive practical experience in audience-oriented and inclusive art production within the performing and visual arts, cultural education, and communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of current discourses in outreach/art education and discrimination-sensitive communication.
- Familiarity with the Ruhr area and its art and culture scene, including independent and small initiatives.
- Experience in network management.
- Basic understanding of administrative and regulatory frameworks for publicly funded art institutions operating in public spaces.
- High level of teamwork, communication skills, and initiative, quick comprehension, good time management, resilience, time flexibility, and enjoyment of challenges.
Desirable:
- An academic degree in a related field. Compensation is based on education and professional experience according to TV-L.
- Proficiency in multiple languages, at least two.

Das Projekt Grand Tour (AT) sieht vor, alle 53 Städte im Ruhrgebiet im Zeitraum 2024 bis 2027 einmal aufzusuchen. Wir planen mit einer in Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlerinnen zu entwickelnden mobilen Struktur in einem regelmäßigen Rhythmus unterwegs zu sein, um in den Städten auf einem öffentlichen Platz präsent zu sein und in Kooperation mit lokalen Künstlerinnen und Initiativen ein künstlerisches Programm zu veranstalten. Ihre Aufgaben:
