Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellowship (full-time temporary)
The MCA is an innovative center of contemporary art where visitors experience the work and ideas of living artists and learn about the historical, social, and cultural context of the art of our time. The museum presents exhibitions, performances, and programs that excite and challenge visitors and provide insight into the creative process.
The MCA’s Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellowship is intended to offer a significant opportunity for an emerging scholar to gain professional curatorial experience and to conduct research in a major museum setting. The Fellow will primarily be responsible for collection and exhibition-related research and scholarship, with additional duties as appropriate. The Fellow will assist in organizing a collection-based exhibition and will have the opportunity to organize at least one related public program during his or her tenure. This is a 12-month commitment, renewable for 1 additional year. The Fellow will be exposed to all aspects of curatorial operations and participates in internal and external communications on a daily basis. With a start date of July 1, 2017 this full-time fellowship carries a stipend of $46,680 plus benefits.
The MCA considers exceptional candidates in art history and related fields with a strong emphasis on art historical research and methodology. Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. (or international equivalent), ideally obtained within no more than three to five years of application.
