The University of Bremen is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Visual Culture within the Institute of Art History, Film Studies, and Art Education. The position combines teaching, research, and academic service within a highly interdisciplinary and international academic environment, with a strong emphasis on Visual Culture and potential focus on Environmental Humanities.
The Postdoc will contribute to teaching, research, and academic coordination within the Visual Culture research area. Key Responsibilities
- Teach in BA and MA programmes (4 LVS), including lectures and seminars
- Contribute to curriculum development and internationalisation activities

- Contribute to academic publications (German and English)
- Develop and pursue an independent Postdoc research project (preferably Environmental Humanities)
- Participate in academic administration and institutional service
Candidate Profile
- PhD (completed or near completion) in Visual Culture, Art History, Media Studies, or related field
- Strong academic research and publication profile
- Very good German and English language skills
- Experience in teaching or student supervision (preferred)
- Interest in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research
- Knowledge of Gender Studies, Queer Studies, Postcolonial Studies, or Human-Animal Studies (advantageous)
- Strong organisational and teamwork skills
