- Artists’ Book Definition: Books conceived as artworks, in line with Printed Matter’s mission.

- Activity Requirement: Imprints must have at least two years of publishing history, releasing approximately two or more titles per year.
Grant Usage
The grant is unrestricted, allowing recipients to determine the best use of funds. This can include project production, artist fees, facility upgrades, studio costs, assistance, rent, etc.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by Printed Matter and a guest jury, evaluating past work, the strength of upcoming projects, and the potential impact of the award. Selected publishers will be notified, and there will be no individual feedback due to the volume of submissions.
Exhibitor Presence at Art Book Fair
Selected publishers will have a featured presence at the 2025 Printed Matter Art Book Fair. A table will be provided free of charge, but travel and accommodation costs are the grantee’s responsibility.
Crediting and Reporting
Awardees must sign an agreement and provide a simple update after one year. Future projects funded by the grant must include a credit line and logo acknowledging support. Printed Matter requests three copies of the book for archival purposes.
Funding Source
The Wagner Foundation generously supports this project.
