
Production Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Manager to join the Exhibitions department and manage the successful delivery of the production of exhibitions, displays and some Museum-wide public-facing projects, from brief to evaluation, including the responsibility for delegated budgets. The Production Manager will also manage the Department’s team of technical staff.
Key areas of responsibility:
- To lead the successful delivery of the construction of exhibitions and related technical services, and their dismantling following closure.
- To ensure appropriate input from key stakeholders in the production of exhibitions, within and outside the Museum.
- To ensure the installation and removal of exhibitions are completed on schedule, safely and securely, within budget, and to make appropriate reports.
- To manage resources and risk. This involves ensuring mechanisms and processes are in place in order to operate safe and secure exhibition construction sites, complying with the latest relevant legislation.
- To plan financial estimates and resources required from the Museum’s technical and specialist staff and from external contractors and consultants.
- To oversee the procurement of exhibition construction and technical services.
Person Specification:
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, you will have proven experience of production/ construction management in a building/display field, in the arts, performance or heritage sectors. You will have proven ability to manage and motivate several teams at once as well as experience of cost and risk management. You will be able to demonstrate strong planning and problem solving skills along with the ability to influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
