Overview
The New York State Council on the Arts, in partnership with CNY Arts, supports the arts, culture, and creativity across New York State. It offers up to $1,000 for professional development in non-profit museums and museum service organizations. The funding supports activities from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, with at least 50 awards anticipated.
Eligibility
Eligible organizations include New York State-based non-profit museums or museum service organizations that are open to the public and offer regular programming. Restrictions apply to state-owned entities, religious institutions, organizations with living collections supported by New York State’s ZBGA program, and those focusing on libraries or archives. Past non-compliance with report submissions may also affect eligibility.
Supported Development Activities
Funding can support conference attendance, consultant-led in-house training, and other museum-related professional development not tied to a degree or certificate program. For guidance, contact Kristin.Herron@arts.ny.gov.
Award Amounts
- In-State: Up to $1,000 per organization.
- Out-of-State: Up to $500 for registration only.
- Distribution ensures no single opportunity receives more than half of the awards.
Focus on Underrepresented Communities
NYSCA emphasizes support for communities historically underrepresented in the arts sector, including various ethnic groups, rural areas, disabled communities, LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse individuals, older adults, veterans, low-income, homeless populations, and those involved with the justice system.
Prioritization of Awards
Awards are prioritized based on previous support history, budget size, and regional distribution to ensure broad accessibility.
