The State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe is a small, excellent art academy that focuses exclusively on the courses in free art ( diploma ) and artistic teaching with fine arts ( B.F.A / M.Ed. ) concentrated. Under the direction of internationally renowned professors, just over 300 aspiring artists and art teachers study the classic genres of painting, sculpture, graphics, but also film, photography, in a total of 16 classes, Performance, installation and media art.
Areas of responsibility:
According to § 46 of the State University Act, u. a. Teaching and support for students of fine art and the artistic teacher with fine arts; Supervision of scientific qualification work ( B.F.A, M.Ed., Promotion ); Participation in the self-governing bodies.
The university expects applications from outstanding scientific personalities with extensive philosophical, art theoretical or cultural science competence and educational commitment.
Recruitment requirements:
Completion of a scientific or artistic university course; pedagogical suitability, usually through teaching experience at a university is proven; special ability to do scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by a doctorate; additional scientific achievements, which are usually by a habilitation or equivalent performance, or as part of a junior professorship, a lecturer at a university or a non-university research institution or as part of a scientific activity in business or in another social area at home or abroad.
Deviating from this, an application is possible if there are excellent subject-related achievements in the field of art theory and philosophy, as well as a special pedagogical suitability.
In particular, outstanding knowledge in philosophy, art theory, aesthetics, ethics and cultural studies is expected, excellent suitability in the foundation and presentation of methodological reflection, extensive familiarity with the theoretical discourses of the present and journalistic presence. Networking with institutions and personalities of the contemporary art discourse, as well as an in-depth exchange with artistic practice are desirable.
The appointment to a temporary civil service or the conclusion of a temporary employment contract for a period of 5 years is based on Section 49 (1) and (2) LHG in conjunction with Section § 50 para. 2 State University Act.
The State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe aims to increase the proportion of female professors and therefore welcomes the application for appropriately qualified women.
