Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will conduct research and teaching in the field of African art history and visual cultures.
Appointment Requirements:
As governed by Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, the requirements include:
- Outstanding knowledge in African art history and visual cultures, supported by a strong publication record.
- Experience in international research collaborations, particularly with African countries.
- Engagement with current debates in cultural studies, particularly regarding methodology.
- Teaching experience, ideally international, and experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects.
- Proficiency in German and/or English, with a willingness to achieve C1 proficiency in either language within three years.
Expectations:
- Active participation in regional research and collaborations with Berlin-based institutions.
- Contributions to joint research projects.
- Teaching and advising in relevant degree programs.
- Sensitivity to gender and diversity issues in research, teaching, and administration.
