Position: Program and Gallery Manager

Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, including one weekend day
Salary: $65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience

About the role

The Gochman Family Collection seeks a Program and Gallery Manager to oversee programming, community engagement, and daily operations at Branchline, its new space in Katonah, New York.

Branchline comprises gallery spaces and apartments hosting visiting artists, scholars, and collaborators. The role requires a warm, organised, and community-minded individual who is deeply engaged with contemporary art, particularly contemporary Indigenous art and practices.

Programme development and events

The Program and Gallery Manager will:

  • Collaborate with the Director to develop the annual programming calendar
  • Manage events, panels, workshops, convenings, and other public programmes
  • Coordinate with teaching artists and external vendors
  • Work with the Collection Associate to produce promotional materials
  • Coordinate programmes with Indigenous communities and cultural partners
  • Align the social media strategies of GFC and Branchline with the Creative Director
  • Schedule and support public and private tours
  • Manage programme budgets and event staffing

Community engagement

The successful candidate will work with the Director and Creative Director to establish and maintain relationships with:

  • Local, diasporic, and homelands Indigenous communities
  • Regional cultural institutions, organisations, galleries, and artists
  • Local businesses, nonprofit organisations, and community stakeholders

They will cultivate local audiences, encourage participation in Branchline’s programmes, and serve as a welcoming and consistent presence within the Katonah community.

Exhibition and artist support

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with exhibition planning
  • Coordinating installation schedules and logistics
  • Liaising with vendors and contractors during installations
  • Maintaining schedules for visiting artists and apartment stays
  • Serving as a primary contact for visiting artists
  • Supporting artists’ travel and hospitality requirements
  • Coordinating contractors and vendors working within the space

Operations and supervision

The Program and Gallery Manager will supervise and assist with training Branchline staff and interns. They will also oversee daily operations, ensuring that the space remains welcoming, safe, and well maintained.

Candidate profile

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A genuine interest in contemporary art and enthusiasm for contemporary Indigenous art and practices
  • Experience in community engagement, arts programming, events, or nonprofit operations
  • Strong communication skills across diverse audiences and communities
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Experience supervising staff and managing budgets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using digital tools

Schedule and travel

The position is full-time and requires approximately 40 hours per week, including one weekend day. Evening and weekend work will be required for programmes and events.

The successful candidate must also be available to travel to other Gochman Family Collection sites, including Manhattan, West Palm Beach, Colorado, and Paris.
