Salary: CAD $25/hour
The Visual Arts Centre (VAC) is seeking a Coordinator for its community outreach program and summer day camp. The role is responsible for planning and implementing the ARTreach program, VAC’s community engagement initiative, and for organizing the summer camp for children aged 6–12. The program emphasizes visual arts education for underrepresented audiences and collaborative, skill-building art experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the vision and content for ARTreach and the summer camp
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate teachers, assistants, and camp counsellors
- Coordinate programming, workshops, and partner activities
- Write communications to parents and manage registrations
- Purchase and organize materials for programs
- Support annual youth exhibition: labels, intro texts, invitations, installation
- Assist with grant writing and fundraising
- Support Centre-wide events (biennial fundraiser, open house, ceramic sale)
- Collaborate with the Communications Director to promote ARTreach programs
- Provide administrative and logistical support, including website updates
Qualifications
- 2–3 years experience in art education or equivalent
- DEC or higher in art education, education, art history, arts management, or related field
- Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Adaptable and collaborative
- Interest in art, culture, and community engagement
- Experience in exhibition setup is an asset
