Job Title: Programme Assistant
Salary: £21,000 p.a.
Hours: Full time, 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday. We are a small team and will try to be as flexible with working patterns as possible. Some of the work will involve evenings and Saturdays.
Location: Based at 19 Minerva Works, Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RT, but required to work at different locations in which our programme occurs.
Responsible to: Gallery Programme Director
Start Date: 1st week of September 2023. We can be flexible on the start date.

The Programme Assistant’s roles and responsibilities will include:
Programme Administration:
- Support the team to administer and deliver projects, exhibitions, events and activities, and oversee the basic administration of the gallery operations and studios, off-site installations and The Growing Project collaborative programmes.
- Organize, maintain stock levels, purchase equipment & materials, for gallery office, workshops, growing project sites and general supplies.
- Manage, record and monitor sales of online shop, editions, social enterprise products and merchandise.
- Support the Programme Team with reflective practice and evaluation, including reporting, archiving, data collection and note-taking in meetings.
Communications:
- Assist with the planning and delivery of Grand Union’s communications and marketing (including writing copy for social media posts).
- Oversee social media schedule, communication material (mailouts, events) and maintain our website, with support and regular updates from the team.
- Support the distribution (print, press and digital updates) of programme interpretation for both inside and outside of the gallery.
- Respond to emails, social media platforms and telephone enquiries.
- Meet, greet and signpost visitors to Grand Union, and provide a warm welcome to all, and maintain a strong knowledge of our programmes and events.
Operations:
- Support with setting up and stewarding events, workshops and exhibitions.
- Support the building operations and maintenance across Minerva Works and Junction Works sites.
- Managing the opening and closing of the gallery – flexible working hours will be required, and evening and weekend working will often be necessary.
- Coordinate volunteers, with support from the Programme Producers.
