Location: New York (Hybrid: 4 days on-site, 1 day remote)

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 annually, with competitive benefits (paid time off, health, dental, and matching 401k)
About the Role
The Programs and Editorial Associate will work under the supervision of Skowhegan’s Co-Directors to strategize and manage public programs and editorial content aligned with Skowhegan’s mission and legacy. This position emphasizes collaboration with alumni, artists, writers, and institutions to develop programs and publications that reflect Skowhegan’s ethos, promoting equity and inclusivity within cultural spaces.
Responsibilities
Public Programs:
- Manage public programs such as talks, performances, and walking tours.
- Collaborate with the Co-Director to conceptualize events and maintain correspondence with participants.
- Facilitate audience engagement and manage event logistics.
Editorial Content:
- Research archives, artists, authors, films, and speakers to support programs and editorial projects.
- Contribute to new perspectives on Skowhegan’s archive through scholarship and engagement.
- Assist in establishing partnerships with international platforms and schools for collaborative projects.
- Develop cross-media content to highlight Skowhegan’s history and future initiatives.
- Coordinate content for digital and printed publications, including outreach materials, program descriptions, and event campaigns.
- Write, review, and edit content for various platforms, including publications and newsletters.
Team Collaboration:
- Work with the Communications Coordinator to prepare outreach texts and materials.
- Promote dialogue, collaboration, and engagement within Skowhegan’s team and network.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MA in Art History, Curatorial Studies, or MFA preferred.
- Experience: 4–5 years in public programming, editorial work, or project management in an art institution.
- Strong editorial and writing skills, with experience in contemporary art.
- Research and archival experience is desirable.
- Familiarity with artist-led spaces and institutions aligned with Skowhegan’s ethos; international experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with collaborators and audiences effectively.
Schedule and Work Environment
- 40 hours per week
- Hybrid: 4 days on-site in New York, 1 day remote
