About the Role

Gropius Bau is seeking a Project Assistant for the Realisation of the Keith Haring Exhibition to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of one of its major upcoming exhibitions. As one of Europe’s leading institutions for contemporary art and interdisciplinary exhibitions, Gropius Bau offers the opportunity to work on an internationally significant exhibition within a highly collaborative environment.

Working alongside curators, architects, registrars, museum technicians, artists, and external partners, the successful candidate will coordinate exhibition production, international artwork loans, transport logistics, contracts, budgets, and installation schedules. The role combines project management with exhibition production and requires excellent organisational and communication skills.

This position is ideal for professionals with previous experience in exhibition production who are interested in contributing to the delivery of ambitious museum exhibitions within an internationally recognised cultural institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate exhibition planning with curators, architects, museum technicians, and media specialists.
  • Support the production of commissioned artworks.
  • Coordinate exhibition installation and de-installation schedules.
  • Manage national and international artwork loans and fine art transport.
  • Prepare and supervise artwork condition reporting.
  • Request quotations and coordinate procurement processes.
  • Prepare contracts for collaborations and artist fees.
  • Support the administration and monitoring of the exhibition budget.
  • Coordinate communication between internal departments and external partners.
  • Ensure exhibition production deadlines are met throughout the project.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have experience working on exhibition production within museums, galleries, or cultural institutions and will be comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders throughout a complex international exhibition project.

Applicants should be highly organised, proactive, and able to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams while maintaining close attention to detail.

Requirements

  • University degree in Art History, Cultural Studies, Cultural Management, Museology, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of professional experience in exhibition production or artwork production within a public cultural institution.
  • Excellent organisational and project coordination skills.
  • Experience working with international artwork loans and exhibition logistics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within large project teams.
  • Interest in contemporary art and international exhibition practice.
  • Excellent written and spoken German.
  • Good command of English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
