General Mission
The Louvre Museum operates under the Ministry of Culture. It includes the national museum of the Louvre, the Eugène Delacroix national museum, the Tuileries Garden, the Louvre gypsum gallery in Versailles, and a conservation center in Liévin. The museum aims to conserve, protect, and restore state-owned works, and to engage a wide public audience. It enhances understanding of its collections and ensures equal cultural access. The museum also supports scientific studies of its collections and contributes to art history, archaeology, and museography education and research. It cooperates with various entities to fulfill its cultural and educational missions.
Directorate of Museal Studies and Research Support (DEMAR)
DEMAR aims to enhance the Louvre Museum’s research policy by supporting the museum’s departments and research units and leading museal studies research projects. This directorate helps boost the museum’s national and international profile.
Role of the Project Coordinator
Reporting to the head of the Research Support Service, the Project Coordinator will:
- Engage the museum’s scientific community.
- Gather needs and proposals.
- Create and publish project calls.
- Attend cross-disciplinary research group meetings.
- Share relevant information with the scientific community.
- Assist in project management, including organizing and coordinating seminars.
- Offer advice and support for funding applications.
- Provide logistical support for events.
- Monitor national and international research funding.
- Lead the setup and management of partnerships with research bodies and cultural institutions.
- Develop and update partnership and funding maps.
Activities
Scientific Community Engagement
- Collect needs and suggestions from the community.
- Develop and issue calls for projects.
- Participate in cross-disciplinary research group meetings.
- Share relevant community information.
Research Support
- Monitor and manage research projects, including study days and symposiums.
- Coordinate seminars with publication authors.
- Offer guidance on funding requests.
- Support event organization and communication.
External Partnership Coordination
- Monitor strategic funding opportunities.
- Manage agreements with research organizations.
- Foster partnerships with cultural and academic institutions.
- Update maps of partnerships and funding engagements.
Service Operations
- Help develop and update the service project.
- Identify key personnel within the museum.
- Promote the service’s activities within the museum.
- Coordinate activities with other DEMAR services.
- Enhance the research valorization strategy at the Louvre.
Profile
- Expertise in the national and international research environment.
- Knowledge of funding in national and international research.
- Skills in museal studies and art history.
- Fluent in English and another foreign language.
- Proficient in communication and standard office tools.
- Skilled in writing and project management.
- Familiar with hygiene, safety, and public archive conservation regulations.
