Project Coordinator for Academic Partnerships
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is currently seeking an energetic and experienced Project Coordinator for Academic Partnerships to support the planning and implementation of collaborative academic programs with regional higher education institutions. This position reports to the Associate Curator of European Painting Sculpture before 1900 and Manager of Curatorial Digital Programs and Initiatives and works closely with representatives from each of the Museum’s curatorial departments, the Division of Conservation, Division of Education, and the Museum’s partners at local academic institutions.
Specifically, you will…
- Coordinate an object-based learning program for art history graduate students, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, produced in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania
- Organize aspects of symposia and object-study workshops for college and university students
- Coordinate placement of fellowships and mentorships within the Museum
- Collaborate on a museum-wide colloquium for curatorial and conservation fellows
- Be responsible for internal and external communications, clerical and administrative tasks such as scheduling, as well as programs management
- Participate in growing the Museum’s academic partnerships with regional institutions
Your diverse background includes…
- A graduate degree, preferably in Art History, Ph.D preferred
- Experience in programs administration in a museum or visual arts organization
- Experience with academic institutions is a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are required
- Ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple projects with a high attention to detail
- Good interpersonal skills and be comfortable working independently within a team structure
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) required; familiarity with Adobe (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator) is desirable
