As a member of the Curatorial Team and reporting to the Curator of Modern & Contemporary Projects, the post-holder for this role will develop and deliver the commission.
This role directly supports the Gallery’s key objectives of sharing our pictures with people across the UK and internationally; building upon the Gallery’s strong international reputation based on its superb collection; and engaging visitors through new displays of the collection.
JOB PURPOSE
Liaising with the artist and reporting to the Curator of Modern & Contemporary Projects, the post-holder will develop the commission and hold the responsibility for the day-to-day management and the delivery of project at the National Gallery, including the facilitating and managing the collaboration with four national partner institutions.
SCOPE OF JOB
- Delivering all relevant objectives set by the Curator of Modern & Contemporary Projects in time and within budget
- Regularly reporting to the Curator of Modern & Contemporary Projects as required
- Liaising with the artist and their studio to facilitate a productive and collaborative relationship
- Developing, coordinating and delivering an artist-led research and development process, including an accompanying, participatory Public Programme at the NG and its project partners in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders
- Together with an external producer, coordinating and delivering the production of the developed performance project, including a participatory Public Programme at the NG and its project partners in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders
- Developing and supervising documentation of the project at the NG and in collaboration with its project partners
- Together with the Publications Department, developing an appropriate form of publication for the project
- Day-to-day Project and Budget Management
- Communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders at the NG, including other NG200 projects and its programme board
- Communication and coordination with internal stakeholders at the project’s four partner venues
- Any other tasks necessary to enable the delivery of the National Gallery’s Jeremy Deller commission
