The British Museum is seeking to recruit a Project Curator to carry out research into the Peruvian collections within the British Museum and co-ordinate a proposal for a prospective Peru exhibition at the Museum.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Oversee the development of an exhibition proposal for an exhibition focused on Peruvian history and culture.
- Develop and manage opportunities for research collaborations in relation to the prospective exhibition
- Act as point of contact for stakeholders and engender their satisfaction with the exhibition progress and strategic direction
- Liaise, often in Spanish, with academics, international museum colleagues, embassy staff, and other important parties in source nations and communities as required
Person specification:
With BA/BSc (or equivalent) in relevant subject, the successful candidate will have knowledge of the archaeology and anthropology of the Americas. They will be fluent in both written and spoken Spanish. They will have demonstrable experience researching and curating museum exhibitions and fieldwork experience in Latin America. They will be a good academic communicator, with ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences. They would have published in in peer reviewed journals or in books.
