Contract: Full-time (41 hours/week), fixed term (6 months maternity cover, with possible extension)

The British Museum is hiring a Project Curator: Sudan and Nubia to research, document, and increase public access to the Nile Valley collections, with a focus on archaeological materials from Sudan and Nubia. The role supports the Museum’s strategic goals by enhancing digital accessibility and contributing to on-site and off-site storage projects.

Key responsibilities include leading the documentation and research of collections such as the Klemm stone quarries assemblages and Qasr Ibrim collection, participating in the Museum’s public programme, and contributing to publications and digital platforms.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should hold a BA/BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with experience in museum documentation and knowledge of the archaeology of the Nile Valley, Sudan, and Nubia. Experience with museum databases and relevant collections is expected. Project or budget management experience is desirable.
