Role Description

Van Alen Institute seeks a skilled Project Manager, Programs, to lead public realm projects and urbanism initiatives. This role involves driving program development, managing projects, and evaluating impacts. The Project Manager will streamline operations, collaborate on strategy, and engage diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Institutional Impact Evaluation
  • Lead the institution’s evaluation efforts.
  • Enhance the Theory of Change and Measurement Framework.
  • Manage organizational data collection tools.
  • Track the impact of the Institute’s work.
  • Collaborate on data collection for programmatic impact.
  • Develop measurement frameworks for new programs.
  • Guide the Evaluation Fellowship and other staff or volunteers.
Program Management
  • Oversee projects from inception to completion.
  • Manage project scope, timeline, budgets, and contracts.
  • Coordinate with diverse partners and stakeholders.
  • Implement metrics to measure project effectiveness.
  • Supervise external contractors and project staff.
Departmental Workflows and Strategy
  • Assist in developing programmatic strategies.
  • Manage departmental operations and meeting schedules.
  • Support staff hiring and onboarding.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or landscape architecture.
  • Five years’ experience in community-led programs and projects.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in community engagement and managing diverse groups.
  • Ability to anticipate outcomes and resolve problems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Airtable, and project management software.
