Recalling Disappearance: Hong Kong Contemporary Art Project

Asia Art Archive (AAA) is undertaking a significant research and archive endeavor known as the ‘Recalling Disappearance: Hong Kong Contemporary Art’ Project. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of Hong Kong art history through comprehensive exploration. The project involves identifying, organizing, digitizing, and annotating archives pivotal to Hong Kong contemporary art. It will also contribute to the development of the Hong Kong Room, a consolidated resource offering access to rare books, archival materials, and audio-visual content.

We’re seeking a motivated candidate to join us as a Project Researcher.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the administration of the Project.
Conduct extensive research for the Project, including managing archives acquisition and digitization, creating indexes and annotations, and producing research materials.
Offer guidance and support for AAA’s educational, curatorial, and media programs, ensuring the dissemination of Project outcomes.
Collaborate with external partners involved in the Project.
Collaborate with various AAA departments to design public talks, residencies, and library exhibitions based on AAA’s research on Hong Kong art history.
Actively participate in relevant professional activities connected to the Project.
Cultivate networks within Hong Kong’s art history academia and art communities.

Candidates should:

Hold a postgraduate degree in Art History or related fields.
Possess a minimum of three years’ professional experience conducting research and archive projects related to contemporary art.
Demonstrate knowledge and a keen interest in Hong Kong art history.
Exhibit proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
Be skilled in essential computer applications.
Showcase strong interpersonal, supervisory, and time management abilities.
