Cultuurcentrum Ter Dilft is seeking a Projects and Visual Arts Officer to help develop its artistic programme, organise exhibitions and coordinate creative projects. Working alongside fellow programmers, the postholder will focus on visual arts, site-based and multimedia projects, and the shared coordination of the Maakplaats creative hub.

Based in Bornem, Ter Dilft presents a diverse programme combining popular and experimental approaches to art and culture. In the coming years, it plans to give particular attention to young people and youth culture.

Responsibilities

The postholder will work with the visual arts programmer to develop the annual exhibition programme, build relationships with artists and partners, and coordinate exhibitions and related activities from planning through delivery. They will collaborate with administrative and technical colleagues on practical arrangements and help develop projects across locations and media.

Together with a colleague from the library team, they will coordinate the Maakplaats, a volunteer-led creative hub jointly run by the library and cultural centre. This part of the role involves facilitating community-led activity and supporting volunteers.

Other responsibilities include managing contracts, schedules and budgets, recording meetings, and preparing exhibition and programme communications. The postholder will contribute texts for brochures and the website, edit printed materials and gather publicity assets in collaboration with the communications team.

Candidate profile

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree. Relevant professional experience is an advantage, as is a network within the visual arts sector.

Ter Dilft seeks a broad interest in visual arts, from painting, photography and sculpture to installation, video and performance. Candidates should be able to develop an artistic vision alongside the practical delivery of projects, coordinate colleagues, volunteers and artists, and move between curatorial and facilitation responsibilities.

An understanding of youth culture, digital skills and familiarity with social media are also important. The role requires evening and weekend work.

The salary ranges from €3,670.80 gross per month without seniority to €5,862.73 with 23 years of relevant seniority. Relevant experience is fully recognised when determining pay.
