Role Overview
The Victoria and Albert Museum seeks a Provenance Research Curator for the V&A Research Institute, National Art Library, and Archives team. The role involves leading and coordinating provenance research across the museum, conducting independent research projects, advising staff on provenance documentation, and prioritizing critical collection areas. The position also includes organizing or contributing to events, supervising postgraduate students, and representing the V&A with external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will build upon previous provenance research, particularly the Gilbert Collection and ongoing initiatives supported by The Polonsky Foundation. The role involves continuing to develop the V&A’s position as a national hub for provenance research in art and design collections. Collaboration with the National Art Library, Archives, and V&A’s object collections is essential.
This position is supported by The Polonsky Foundation and is initially offered for 12 months, with potential for long-term development.
