Northern Beaches Council is seeking a Public Art Curator to support the development and delivery of public art initiatives across the Northern Beaches region of Sydney. Working within the Community, Arts & Culture team, the role focuses on commissioning and managing public art projects, integrating artworks into civic infrastructure and programmes, and supporting the stewardship of the Council’s public art collection.
The position plays a key role in ensuring that public art contributes meaningfully to community life, cultural identity, and public spaces across the region, which stretches from Palm Beach to Manly.
Responsibilities
- Support and manage the procurement and delivery of public art projects, including research, planning, and stakeholder engagement
- Identify opportunities to integrate public art into Council programmes, developments, and public assets
- Oversee the day-to-day development and implementation of public art projects, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements
- Contribute to the management and long-term planning of the Council’s Public Art Collection
- Provide internal and external strategic advice on public art policies, strategies, and initiatives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to foster a positive and innovative working culture
