The Public Programs Coordinator – part-time – helps support performances and free programs at The Barnes Foundation. The Coordinator provides administrative support and operations for multiple programs each month. This position is responsible for creating, disseminating and tracking all documents needed to support program creation, implementation and promotion. Reporting to the Curator of Public Programs this individual will work to support all programs. The Public Programs Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with our community council members.

Established in 1922 as an educational institution, the Barnes Foundation carries out its mission by promoting appreciation of the arts and horticultural science, through the preservation, presentation, and interpretation of the collections of Albert C. and Laura L. Barnes.

Celebrated for its exceptional breadth, depth, and quality, the Barnes Foundation’s art collection includes works by some of the greatest European and American masters of impressionism, post-impressionist, and early modern art, as well as African sculpture, Pennsylvania German decorative arts, Native American textiles, metalwork, and more.

Responsibilities:

Job Specific Competencies:

  • Works with the Curator of Public Programs to ensure a clear understanding of the annual program sequence, revenue and audience goals.
  • Works alongside the Curator of Public Programs in partnership with Events, Facilities, AV, Education, Community Engagement and Guest & Protection Services to coordinate programs.
  • Works with internal and external partners to ensure performer and speaker content is created, received, tracked and disseminated to the correct departments well in advance of the program promotional date.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Editorial on promotional content and with
  • Ticketing to ensure event details are clear to the general public.
  • Supports community council meetings and oversees monthly email correspondence to this group.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • BA preferred
  • 3-5 years in administrative role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Diplomatic and proactive problem-solving style
  • Commitment to inclusion in arts programming
