Introduction Artists and cultural workers are invited to join the RE-IMAGINE Green Residency Program. This program offers a unique opportunity for creative individuals to engage in transformative projects addressing climate change challenges. It focuses on the green transformation of the performing arts sector in the Balkans and Central Europe.
Project Overview and Objectives The project aims to redefine the social role of performing arts organizations in environmental change. It focuses on building capacities to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve zero-waste production. The goal is to foster a significant shift in the external actions of the performing arts sector, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.
Project Consortium The consortium includes pioneering organizations in promoting green policies in the cultural and creative sectors. These include:
- Green Art Incubator, Belgrade, Serbia
- Arte Urbana Collectif, Sofia, Bulgaria
- Lokomotiva – Centre for New Initiative in Arts and Culture, Skopje, Macedonia
- Pro Progressione, Budapest, Hungary
Residency Focus Participants will develop projects that incorporate environmentally sustainable practices within the performing arts. They will explore new ways of sustainable production and apply their ideas to the residency program.
Residency Program Structure The one-year program consists of four five-day residencies in each partner country:
- Climate Literacy – April 2024, Bulgaria
- Sustainable Preproduction – July 2024, Hungary
- Green Artistic Approach and Production – October 2024, North Macedonia
- Sustainable Distribution and Promotion – January 2025, Serbia
The program’s official language is English. Organizations should nominate two representatives (producer and artist) for participation. All residency costs are covered by the partner organizations. A Pitch event will follow, with a jury selecting one project for co-financing.
Application Guidelines Organizations, collectives, or informal groups passionate about environmental sustainability in the performing arts sector are encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit project proposals in the early stage of development.
Geographic Focus The project addresses challenges in Serbia, North Macedonia, Hungary, and Bulgaria. It aims to strengthen the capacity of organizations in these regions for green transformation.
