Research and creation grant
Overview
Les Antípodes is a space where contemporary art, culture, and thought intersect with the geographical and social landscape of the north-eastern Catalan region of Empordà. It connects the peaks of Canigó and Bassegoda with Cap de Creus, creating new relationships between the urban and rural landscapes. The initiative aims to foster mutual recognition, sustainable economic activity, and decentralized cultural creation through diverse perspectives.
Key Themes
- Frontier: The space of transition where new perceptions, languages, and identities emerge.
- Utopia: The vision of a free, just, and sustainable world, intercultural and multi-species, symbiotic, and decentralized.
- Agriculture: The link between nature and society, focusing on food production and land care.
- Community: The memory and meaning that allow for understanding and connecting different realities.
Arc de Sant Martí Programme
Les Antípodes connects contemporary arts and culture with rural communities in Empordà. It fosters mutual recognition beyond mercantilism and preconceived ideas, exploring new relationships between urban centers and rural ecosystems.
