Role Overview

A Research Assistant is needed to support a mapping exercise focused on identifying and analyzing innovative art initiatives that address local challenges across Africa. This role involves conducting qualitative interviews, researching contemporary African art, and contributing to a comprehensive report on these initiatives’ impact and effectiveness. The position is remote, requiring availability during East Africa Time zone working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the research methodology in collaboration with the Research Lead.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews with artists, organizations, and community members.
  • Research and document contemporary African art initiatives, emphasizing their social impact.
  • Analyze data to identify key themes, success stories, and trends in the African art scene.
  • Prepare a detailed report highlighting findings and offering recommendations to enhance the impact of these initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A BA in Humanities or a related field is required; an MA is preferable.
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Proven research experience in contemporary African art.
  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work setting.
