The Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is seeking a Research Assistant in Art History and Theory to join the Chair of Prof. Dr. Kristin Marek. This part-time (75%) position is aimed at scholars pursuing a PhD and focuses on contemporary and modern art, with a preferred research interest in Textile Studies and/or intersections of art, craft, and handwork.

Main Responsibilities

Teaching (4 teaching hours per week) in BA and MA programmes

Supervision of student theses

Participation in research and administrative activities of the Chair

Development and implementation of a PhD project aligned with the Chair’s focus

Contribution to curricular development and research profile of the department
Candidate Profile
-
Master’s degree in art history or related discipline, completed within the last five years
-
Ongoing or planned doctoral project, ideally in Textile Studies or at the intersection of art, craft, and handwork

Theoretical expertise in contemporary cultural and aesthetic discourses

Interest in interdisciplinary work within the Bauhaus-Universität context

Reliable, collaborative, and motivated

Desired: background in media/cultural theory, gender/postcolonial/queer studies
