Kunsthaus Zürich is seeking a research associate to join the project team developing a new exhibition of works from the Emil Bührle Collection, which is held at the museum on permanent loan. The role combines research into the collection and selected works with exhibition writing, documentation and coordination.

The research associate will investigate the history of the collection, which includes works of French Impressionism, in close collaboration with the museum’s provenance research department and collection research staff. They will maintain careful records and organise the exhibition project’s documentation.

The position also contributes to the exhibition’s interpretation. Working with the Head of Collection and Research and an external curator, the research associate will write and edit wall texts and object labels, coordinate content among the curatorial team, and prepare texts for internal and public communication. They will work with the project coordinator and other museum departments as the exhibition develops.

Candidate profile

Applicants should have:

• A degree in art history with a focus on French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
• Experience in provenance research, ideally relating to Nazi-looted art or the history of Jewish collections.
• Experience writing scholarly texts for public audiences and working in a museum.
• Very good German and English; French is desirable.
• A precise, organised and independent approach to work, alongside the ability to collaborate across departments.
