Overview: The University of Glasgow invites applications for the position of Research Associate in Virtual Museum Curation within the School of Humanities.
Responsibilities:
- Project Collaboration: Collaborate with Professor Neil McDonnell and other Co-Investigators on the ‘Museums in the Metaverse’ (MiM) project, focusing on Museology.
- Platform Development: Assist in researching, prioritizing, and establishing the core functionality of the MiM platform, including the curation and interpretation of cultural heritage objects and narratives in Virtual Reality.
- Curatorial Work: Support the development and testing of virtual curatorial processes and tools for the MiM platform, as well as sector-appropriate workflows for object handling, documentation, archiving, and interpretation.
- Exemplar Experiences: Work as part of a team to design, curate (in Virtual Reality), evaluate, and disseminate exemplar MiM experiences aligned with partners’ target audiences/strategic direction(s).
- Research and Organization: Research and organize access to sites/objects for photogrammetric capture/processing by the project Collections Digitization Technician, and assist in database development/maintenance.
- Research Contributions: Contribute to research publications and proposals while actively managing and directing the project as opportunities arise.
