Location: The Met Fifth Avenue, New York, NY
Contract: Full-time, 16-month fixed term
Salary: $72,000–$74,000 annually
Eligibility: Candidates must reside within commuting distance (NY, NJ, CT, or PA)
The Met’s Department of Modern and Contemporary Art is hiring a Research Associate to support two upcoming exhibitions: one focused on Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler (Fall 2027) and another on a contemporary artist (Summer 2027). The role includes research, exhibition coordination, catalogue preparation, and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth library/archival research and maintain exhibition databases
- Coordinate meetings and follow-ups across museum departments
- Maintain object checklists, assist with loan paperwork and indemnification processes
- Support catalogue production, including image rights and author coordination
- Assist with interpretive materials, public programs, and web content
- Participate in gallery installations and support related logistics
Qualifications
- Master’s in Art History or related field
- Proven museum experience, preferably in modern European and American art
- French reading proficiency preferred
- Proficient in MS Office, Teams, TMS, Zotero, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat
- Strong organizational, research, and multitasking abilities
