The Met seeks a Research Associate to support the Associate Curator of Native American Art in researching, documenting, and developing its Native American collections. This includes curatorial and administrative tasks, provenance research, exhibition preparation, and assistance with NAGPRA-related work. The role also involves community engagement with Native American Nations and collaboration across Museum departments.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold an M.A. in Native American Art History, Indigenous Studies, Museum Studies, or Anthropology, with deep knowledge of Native American art and cultures. Experience with NAGPRA protocols, museum databases (TMS preferred), and prior curatorial work are essential. Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ethical commitment to Indigenous communities are required.
