The University of Koblenz, Germany’s youngest university with a long academic tradition, is seeking a Research Associate (m/f/d) at the Institute of Art History within the Faculty of Philology/Cultural Studies. The position supports the Junior Professorship for Art History in teaching and research, while allowing for a PhD project in the field of modern and contemporary art.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and research activities in the field of art history
- Participate in research projects and conferences
- Conduct independent teaching (2 hours per week)
- Pursue a doctoral dissertation related to modern and contemporary art
- Contribute to academic self-administration within the department
Qualifications
- Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in art history or a related discipline, with focus on 20th–21st century art or architecture
- Research interest aligning with at least one of the following topics:
- Expanded arts, performance art, political art
- Museum and exhibition history
- Art and social movements
- Educational architecture, architecture and society
- Architecture and choreography, body–space–movement
- Cybernetics and computers in art and architecture
- Strong academic writing and analytical skills
- High level of presence expected on campus due to the university’s mentoring concept
