Fellowship Description
The International Curators Forum (ICF) invites applications from emerging or early-career UK-based Black or Brown researchers/curators. This fellowship focuses on the legacy and contemporary relevance of Ten.8 Magazine. The fellow’s research into the Ten.8 archives will support the development of:
- A public event at The Photographers’ Gallery in London, coinciding with an archival exhibition on Ten.8 in January 2025.
- A major exhibition at The New Art Gallery Walsall, showcasing the Ten.8 archive and related artworks from April to September 2026.
- Digital programming or outputs to activate the Ten.8 archive.
- A contribution to a new publication on Ten.8’s legacy, integrating key texts and new commissions.
The fellow will receive ongoing development support from ICF, work closely with the ICF team, and engage with their wider program and network. Researchers/curators across the UK are welcome, with necessary travel covered by the project.
More Information:
The fellowship aims to explore how the presentation of Ten.8 can influence the ‘post-photographic image’ and its relevance today. It will engage participants with curatorial strategies and cultural content, reflecting on institutional collections and exhibitions as cultural heritage for future generations. The project encourages new thinking for emerging creatives and redefines public ‘archives’ and collections. The fellowship involves creating a new archive around the Ten.8 process, reference points, and key texts, to be shared through digital programming.
Collaboration:
The fellow will collaborate with The Photographers’ Gallery and The New Art Gallery Walsall, including Deborah Robinson, Head of Exhibitions. Mentorship will be provided by ICF staff and original Ten.8 editorial team members.
