Alserkal Research Grants 2025-2027
Introduction
Alserkal Arts Foundation invites applications for the third cycle of Research Grants for the years 2025-2027. The Foundation plans to award three grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 each. These grants support two-year projects by individuals and collectives.
Objectives
Since 2019, the program has funded projects in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The focus is on research within South Asia, West Asia, and Africa. The current call encourages projects that explore intersectional and experimental approaches, aiming to merge traditional disciplines. Special consideration goes to projects addressing contemporary violence and polarization.
Who Can Apply
Eligible candidates include multidisciplinary artists, architects, writers, and more. Applicants must be over 21 years old with a minimum of five years’ experience in their field. Application materials should include a CV, portfolio, and research proposal. All applications must be submitted by September 1, 2024.
Funding Details
Grants are available up to $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for duos or collectives. Grant money can be used for equipment rentals, space rentals, transcription services, and other project-related expenses.
Restrictions
The grants cannot be used for purchasing electronic hardware, personal items, or for funding educational fees, personal mentorships, or participation in fairs.
Application Process
Applicants must complete an online application form, which includes uploading a CV, portfolio, and a detailed research proposal. Two letters of recommendation are also required. The application portal opens on April 29, 2024.
