Research Internship (d/m/f)

The SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE FRANKFURT is offering a research internship as from 1 December 2023 and 1 March 2024. 

The SCHIRN is one of the most prestigious exhibition venues in Europe. It focuses on art-historical and historico-cultural themes, discourses and trends from a contemporary perspective. The SCHIRN programme is multifaceted, international and progressive; it attempts to open up new points of view and to trigger discussions. The exhibitions are dedicated in equal measure to contemporary standpoints in art and art of the modern era.  

YOUR TASKS

Your task will consist primarily in supporting the curators in devising and implementing exhibition projects.

  • Dealing with research work incurring in the context of preparing the exhibition 
  • Developing concepts with the curators
  • Communicating with artists, studios, galleries, museums and lenders
  • Compiling loan requests and updating lists of works
  • Communicating with external project partners and also the internal departments
  • Assisting with publication: text revision, editing and proofreading
  • Writing research articles for publications 
  • Assisting with exhibition texts: booklets and wall texts
  • Helping to shape the supporting program for exhibitions

YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree preferably in art history or comparable qualification 
  • Command of German and English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level B2 to C1)  
  • Command of French and/or Italian according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level B1)
  • Very good knowledge of Office applications 
  • Team spirit, organising skills, with a goal- and detail-oriented approach to work 
  • You should preferably also have experience in catalogue production and practical experience with exhibitions
