The role of Research Manager in the Development Department is central to the delivery of the Museum’s fundraising strategy and to effective donor management. As the post-holder, you will be required to implement and maintain a research strategy that supports the department. You will use your expertise to analyse information and efficiently provide research on individuals, companies, charitable grant giving, statutory and research funding bodies. You will need to provide well presented briefing documents, in-depth profiles and reports for a range of Museum activities and for a range of stakeholders, including the Trustees and Directorate.
You will also be responsible for competitor analysis and identifying the appropriate resources for research as well as using your initiative to identify new prospective donors and fields for investigation.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have good IT literacy with experience of using a range of IT packages and databases. You should be able to demonstrate previous experience of working as a researcher within a development office in a similar sector. You will possess good written and verbal communication skills, good analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to work proactively, methodically and to deadlines. You should be highly organised and have the ability to use your own initiative. You should be flexible in your approach and able and willing to undertake a variety of duties as required by the needs of the office.
