About the Residency
The Athens Residency is the flagship programme of ARCAthens, a non-profit organisation founded in 2017 that offers two fully funded fellowships annually: one in Visual Art and one in Curatorial Practice.
The residency enables artists, curators and scholars to live and work in Athens while engaging with the city’s dynamic contemporary cultural landscape. Through a structured programme of visits, meetings and research opportunities, Fellows are immersed in the local art ecosystem and encouraged to develop new perspectives informed by the social, political and cultural context of Greece.
Recognised for its strong professional network and meaningful exposure opportunities, ARCAthens facilitates studio visits, meetings with artists and curators, access to private collections and institutions, and participation in selected community events.
Rather than operating as a studio-isolated residency, the programme emphasises exchange, dialogue and active engagement with both local and international art communities.
Eligibility
The residency is open to artists, curators and scholars from all countries and nationalities.
Applicants must not be residing in Greece at the time of application.
ARCAthens welcomes applicants representing diverse backgrounds, perspectives and creative practices.
