Residency at Delfina Foundation
Overview
The Delfina Foundation in London is one of the UK’s leading artist-in-residence programs. It promotes artistic exchange and experimentation, offering visual artists and curators a platform for research, idea development, and positioning their practices within the global art discourse. The Foundation introduces residents to the London art scene and connects them with an extensive international network.
Residency Details
Location: Delfina Foundation, 29-31 Catherine Place, London, near Buckingham Palace.
Residency Duration: 22 September to 14 December 2025.
Participants: The residency accommodates 6 to 8 international residents. Each resident has a private room, with shared kitchen and sanitary facilities.
Program Activities
The residency begins with visits to museums, galleries, and non-profit platforms, facilitating networking and discussions among residents. Regular discussions are organized with local artists, and portfolios are reviewed with curators. Networking lunches are held regularly, and active participation in these activities is expected.
Application Process
Eligibility: Visual artists and curators are eligible to apply. Applications for duos are not accepted.
Proposal Requirements: Applicants do not need to submit a concrete project proposal but must provide a clear motivation for participation, outlining the research they wish to conduct and its potential contribution to the Delfina Foundation’s ongoing program.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted by 26 September 2024 before 04:00 PM (CEST) / 10:00 AM (AST).
Financial Information
The Mondriaan Fund covers the costs of the studio, living space, and support provided by the Delfina Foundation. Additional expenses, including travel, living costs, and materials, are estimated at €8,203 for a visual artist or €6,412 for a curator, with the resident contributing 10%. For residents from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, the contribution may increase to cover higher travel costs.
Selection Process
The advisory committee, including a representative from the Delfina Foundation, selects candidates based on their application documents. Applications must be submitted in English.
Additional Opportunities
Due to limited selection capacity, applicants not selected for this residency are encouraged to apply for an Artist Project at other residency locations.
