About the role
The MAK Center seeks a Residency and Exhibitions Associate to support its exhibitions and international residency programme.
The role encompasses exhibition production, installation, documentation, artist support, and coordination across the MAK Center’s sites. The successful candidate will also serve as the primary liaison for the Artists- and Architects-in-Residence programme at the Mackey Apartments.
Exhibition coordination
The Residency and Exhibitions Associate will:
- Support the Director in implementing exhibition schedules, budgets, and production plans
- Coordinate with artists, curators, lenders, vendors, and contractors
- Oversee installation and deinstallation logistics
- Manage loan agreements, condition reports, shipping, and insurance
- Edit and produce interpretive materials and printed matter as required
- Organise and maintain exhibition documentation and archives
Residency programme coordination
Responsibilities include:
- Administering the international Artists- and Architects-in-Residence programme
- Managing artist onboarding, contracts, travel, schedules, and communications
- Coordinating residents’ final presentations
- Producing residency-related exhibitions with residents and guest artists
- Liaising with the facilities team regarding the Mackey Apartments and Garage Top Gallery
- Tracking and archiving residents’ activities and documentation
Archive and Study Center support
The successful candidate will:
- Help organise and preserve residency records and exhibition materials
- Support the activation of archival materials through research and documentation
- Collaborate with staff, researchers, and contractors on archive development at the Fitzpatrick-Leland House
Institutional support
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing production support for public programmes
- Contributing to grant reporting, fundraising events, and donor engagement
- Participating in staff meetings, planning, and institutional initiatives
- Supporting visitor services and front-of-house operations
Candidate profile
Applicants should have:
- At least five years of experience in exhibition logistics, residency administration, or arts programme management
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Familiarity with registrarial procedures and working with artists
- The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Flexibility regarding occasional evening and weekend commitments
Knowledge of contemporary art, design, and architecture is an advantage.
