Residency for young artist or curator at the art research lab at Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

Each year the Pavillon offers an eight-month residency for around ten young artists and curators who are recruited through an international application.
The programme of Le Pavillon will be punctuated with various events and may take very different form; personal research, meetings with various figures from the world of art directly linked to the overall project of the “Palais de Tokyo”, Workshops in different countries, creative production whether collective or individual open to all types of artistic practices…
CONDITIONS
Participants’profile : Graduate young artists or curators or equivalent professional experience. Knowledge of French and/or English is required.
Enrolment fees : Thanks to a special partnership with the Ecole nationale supérieure d’arts de Cergy, enrolment in Le Pavillon program enables artists to take advantage of student insurance and medical coverage. Each artist is responsible for enrolment fees and social security fees, which amounts are about 350 euros and 200 euros respectively.Travel expenses and visa : Each artist is responsible for travel expenses and for visas. The Pavillon can provide an attestation of participation.
Study grants : Each of the selected artists will receive a monthly study grant of €1000 uring the 8-month program.
Living accommodations : Le Pavillon has no student housing of its own.

HOW TO APPLY FOR 2013-2014 SESSION
Candidates are asked, in addition to their portfolio, to make an artistic proposal based on this specific theme :
At a time when galleries and museums are experiencing exponential growth, you are invited to submit proposals for a work by subtraction, an artistic gesture that produces its own slowing down, a piece that works towards the decline of objects and brings about a different economy of production.
We ask the candidates to send an application both printed on A4 paper + a PDF version on a digital support, with the following items :
1/ The specific proposal
2 / The filled in application form (Download here) along with :
– a cover letter explaining your interest in this program
– a resume (CV)
– a photocopy of your ID or passport
– two identity pictures
3/ A portfolio including:
– 20 or so reproductions of work (with description of the pieces)
– and/or a CD (maximum 10 minutes), a compilation of video work (maximum 15 minutes mini DV or DVD), website link etc.
We will not accept applications only on digital support; all must be both on paper and PDF.
SCHEDULE FOR 2013/2014 SESSION
Deadline : August 31st, 2012 (as attested by date on postmark)
Preselection : consultation of the files on the 24th/25th/26th of September, 2012
Selection : oral interview with the jury on the 22nd and 23rd of October, 2012
Participation conditions : the Pavillon won’t be responsible for potential travel expenses.
