SALES ASSOCIATE: SMAC GALLERY – CAPE TOWN

SMAC Gallery is looking for an engaging Sales Associate to join our team in Cape Town.

Position available immediately, is full-time, necessitates daily office attendance and is Cape Town-based

Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and 2 Saturdays a month 10:00 – 15:00 [overtime where needed]

3 month contract with the possibility of permanent contract

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for generating sales, meeting associated sales targets and fostering new client relationships. As a Sales Associate, the successful candidate will be required to assist with front-of-house responsibilities and will also assist the senior sales team with artist management as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Generating art sales (primary and secondary works), meeting sales targets an placing artworks in key collections
• Customer relationship management – ensure that every customer experience is consistent and excellent
• Sales Administration – follow protocol and processes for client follow ups and handover of after-sales administration
• Generation of sales and marketing material and ensuring that the digital sale’s platforms are updated and monitored
• Database Management – responsibility for updating contacts on FileMaker
• Event management – restaurant/venue booking, guest list management, event coordination
• Maximise sales opportunities – assist with curating and changing of displays appropriately and regularly
• Attendance at Gallery functions and networking opportunities as required
• Assist with front desk responsibilities – ensure that every customer experience is consistent and excellent
• Assist the senior sales team with artist management as required

Requirements:

• Qualification in the Arts is essential
• Must have the ability to engage with clients and artists alike- easily, respectfully and meaningfully
• Should be passionate about contemporary art with a good knowledge of the SA art world including local SA artists
• Must possess sound knowledge of the global art industry including key players
• Should be driven with a strong client and sales focus
• Must be self- motivated and hard working with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Should be professional, presentable, friendly and polite with strong written and verbal skills
• Must be administratively strong and detail oriented with the ability a structured manner
• Should understand and appreciate the importance of exceptional customer service
• Must have a positive attitude
• Should have a driver’s license and own vehicle
