About the Role
The Showroom Gallery seeks a Schools and Young People Curator to develop and implement the Imagining Futures pilot program, focused on engaging schools and young people in the Church Street Ward. This role combines programming, project coordination, and community engagement to build meaningful connections between young people and contemporary art.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director and Engagement Curator to design and deliver participatory projects and workshops.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, youth centers, and local organizations.
- Manage program delivery, including artist recruitment, communication with partners, and project production (onsite and offsite).
- Oversee the Imagining Futures budget and support funding efforts through research and applications.
- Supervise Education Assistants and temporary staff as required.
- Document and archive the program’s activities for future reference.
- Represent The Showroom at external meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Assist with marketing and publicity for the program.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience working with young people, artists, and diverse community groups.
- Familiarity with the contemporary arts sector and visual arts practices.
- At least two years of experience in arts education or project coordination.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Budget management experience and computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel for Macs).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to The Showroom’s aims, including equal opportunities and diversity policies.
Desirable:
- Experience with participatory projects or those in public spaces.
- Fundraising experience for education programs.
- Clean driving license.
